Level 9/10 Regionals

Plano, TX, April 26, 2008; Plano Unlimited Sports Academy sent four gymnasts to this past weekend’s Level 9/10 Regional Championships held in Wichita, Kansas at the Wichita State University. Level 9/10 Regional Championships, a seven state competition, is a precursor to Western Nationals.

According to Coach Helen Verucchi, “This is where real gymnastics begins. The skills that most adults watched as Mary Lou Retton competed in the 1984 Olympics, are now just stepping stones to much more difficult moves.”

Plano USA’s coaches, Valeri & Yevgueni Indyukov, and Helen Verucchi’s goal for their gymnasts was to continue to strengthen the big skills under pressure, and gain invaluable competition experience in their first year competing at these levels.

Emma Sibson their only Level 10 at Regionals was a real trooper competing sick, but still able to place 4^th on the Vault. Level 9 gymnasts: Abby Bollinger, Jensen McMillen, and Molly O’Bryan also earned their stripes at this competition with Abby Bollinger of Plano, placing 12^th on Vault; and Jensen McMillen, of Plano, earning 12^th on Vault and Floor. Molly O’Bryan of Flower Mound had a fabulous meet, earning the Bronze Medal on Bars and Beam, the Silver on Floor, and Fourth in the All-Around. Finishing in the top seven, Molly O’Bryan will compete for the Region III Team and for individual placement at Western Nationals held in St. Charles, Missouri the weekend of May 10^th.
