Local Gymnasts Show Their Mettle At WOGA Classic

Plano, TX, Feb 07, 2008; Plano Unlimited Sports Academy’s gymnasts make a good showing at this past weekend’s WOGA Classic International Women’s Meet. The WOGA Classic has become a centerpiece in many gymnasts’ competitive season, drawing athletes from across the U.S., as well as international competitors from: Australia, Cananda, Russia, Ukraine, Japan, Mexico and the Netherlands.
Plano Unlimited Sports Academy’s gymnasts proved their competitive edge this past weekend …
Emily Bockoven of Plano, a Level 7 (11-12yr)
took home the gold in the All-Around, as well as the the gold in Vault & Beam; Jordon Stavrous of Dallas, a Level 7 (8-10yr.) took home the Silver Medal in the All-Around Standings, as well as the Silver Medal on Vault and Beam.
Peyton Travis of Dallas, a Level 8 (8-11yr.)took home the Gold Medal in the All-Around in her session – with first place finishes on the Vault and Floor; Skyler Sheppard, Level 8 (8-11yr.) took home the Bronze Medal on Beam.
Plano Unlimited’s Level 9’s also put on a good showing with Molly O’Bryan of FlowerMound, she placed third in the All-Around, and took home the Silver Medal on Bars with a first place score; Rachel Colman, of Allen took home the Bronze Medal on Beam with a flawless routine.
Plano Unlimited has recently added the esteemed coaching pair of Helen Verucchi and Valeri Indyukov. The two combined have brought Additional team members, as well as nearly 55 years of coaching experience to the gym.
Helen Verucchi, Helen competed nationally for Russia, and has coached for nearly 15 years. In Russia she was responsible for preparing gymnasts for the national level, and here in the states has helped to develop several state and regional champions. Valeriy Indyukov, a former Russian national gymnast as well, has nearly 40 years of coaching experience – most of that in Russia. He has prepared and trained many Russian gymnasts to the national and international level, including the current world champion on the uneven bars Ksenia Semyonova. He’s had success in Italy, and now in the US, with two state and three regional champions to his credit.
Plano Unlimited Sports Academy is a USAG Club Member, the national governing body of gymnastics in the United States. They are extremely pleased with the addition of these coaches, and their gymnasts performance in the WOGA Classic.
